Heller Decision

The much-anticipated decision in the DC vs Heller case is finally in. This landmark case is an appeal of Parker vs DC, where the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit became the first federal appeals court in the United States to rule that a firearm ban was an unconstitutional infringement of the Second Amendment. This case has drawn the attention of the NRA, the Brady Campaign, distinguished Law Professors all over the country, as well as a number of state's, who signed briefs for the case.

Heller (07-290), on whether the District’s firearms regulations – which bar the possession of handguns and require shotguns and rifles to be kept disassembled or under trigger lock – violate the Second Amendment. Heller Decision Expected Thursday June 26th

The much-anticipated decision in the DC vs Heller case was once again delayed. The Court is expected to finalize the last three decisions: Heller (DC Guns), Davis v. FEC (campaign finance), and American Electric Power (energy contracts).
Make sure to check in tomorrow, when the court will issue all of its remaining opinions starting at 10 a.m. Eastern.

Windham, Maine -- Bushmaster Firearms International, LLC (BFI) recently made a $10,000.00 contribution to the CMP National Matches Junior Highpower Support Fund. A formal check presentation ceremony took place at Camp Butner, North Carolina during the Eastern CMP Games and Creedmoor Cup Matches. The check represents the proceeds from a special series of Bushmaster DCM-XR competition rifles that were produced to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the National Matches coming to Camp Perry, Ohio.
Jarrod McDevitt, Competition Program Coordinator at Bushmaster, presented the check. Bushmaster produced and began marketing the special DCM-XR rifle during the 2007 National Matches at Camp Perry, and committed to donating $100.00 from each rifle sale to the CMP National Matches Junior Highpower Support Fund. The Support Fund provides financial assistance to partially offset the costs of travel, accommodations and entry fees for juniors competing in the CMP service rifle matches at Camp Perry. In 2007, this fund provided nearly $25,000.00 in support for junior highpower shooters to help make it possible for them to attend the National Matches.
Chad Brooks, CEO said, "We were very pleased to work with CMP on a special project like this. Knowing that the proceeds benefit Jr. Shooters made it all worth it. Our commitment to youth programs will only grow. Bushmaster realizes the importance of teaching firearm safety and marksmanship training to all age groups and will always do its part in supporting that."
DCM-XR Competition rifles produced were serialized with numbers "1 of 100" through "100 of 100." A logo commemorating the Camp Perry Centennial and the CMP was laser engraved on the magazine well. Number one of this series of rifles was used by Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army John McLaurin to fire the ceremonial first shot of the 2007 National Matches First Shot Ceremony.
Bushmaster Firearms International, LLC (BFI) also recently donated award rifles to the CMP Eastern Games & Creedmoor Cup at Camp Butner, NC held May 3-11.
CMP Eastern Games award rifle winner was Michael O'Neil with a score of 374-13X in the CMP EIC Match. Michael received an award certificate for a Bushmaster DCM-XR Series Rifle.
Two other Bushmaster DCM-XR rifles were awarded to the Overall Champion and the Jr. Champion of the Eastern Creedmoor Cup Match. The Overall Winner was SFC Grant Singley USA with a score of 790-31X, and the Junior Champion was Jason Case with a score of 784-30X.
Bushmaster Competition Program Coordinator Jarrod McDevitt stated, "This year's event was definitely one to remember. Our newly formed Bushmaster Rifle Team held a clinic on May 7th with the Army Marksmanship Unit and USMC Shooting Team. The quality of instruction given was unlike any ever offered. We had active duty AMU and USMC shooters, a retired Distinguished AMU National Champion, a retired Master Gunnery Sergeant USMC double distinguished instructor, and other National Champions on hand providing instruction."
Bushmaster would like to congratulate our award winners and give "Special Thanks" to the Army Marksmanship Unit and the US Marine Corp Shooting Team for providing excellent assistance with this year's clinic.

St. Clour, Minnesota, DPMS, a leading supplier of AR15 based rifles, parts and accessories announced today that its assets have been acquired by an affiliate of Cerberus Capital Management, L.P.
Randy Luth, DPMS founder and President, remarked, "We were looking for a partner that could enhance our expertise in operations and further develop our sales and marketing capabilities. In connection with the transaction, Mr. Luth will remain President of the newly formed DPMS Firearms, LLC and will continue to oversee the strategic and operational aspects of DPMS. ARMALITE ANNOUNCES GUNSMITH RIFLE KITS
Geneseo IL, January 2, 2008
ArmaLite Inc. announced today the introduction of the AR-10(r) "Gunsmith Kit". These kits enable users to build their own custom AR10 rifle to their own standards. The AR10 Gunsmith Kits include all the core parts required to build an AR10 rifle, excluding any parts that are optional based on the configuration of rifle desired. These economical kits allow the gunsmiths to use aftermarket components to build their custom rifle without the need to disassemble a complete AR-10. Genuine ArmaLite components will be available to flesh out the customers option needs. Kits come complete with key interface dimensions of the barrel. A similar program will be available to manufacturers wishing to build fine rifles on the AR-10 frame under their own brand.
The AR-10 Gunsmith kit retails for $862

2007 CUP WINNER ANNOUNCED
Winner Announced of 1st ARMALITE CUP Award plus CUP HOLDER.
ArmaLite is proud to announce the winner of the first annual ARMALITE CUP.
Robert DeVito of Florida is the 2007 recipient of the ARMALITE CUP.
Robert will also receive an AR10 lower receiver (or as now referred to as the CUP HOLDER). When contacted this week Robert DeVito, an ArmaLite rifle owner and fan, was very excited to hear that he had won the Cup, and was especially surprised to know that he would also be receiving a AR10 cup holder.
The ARMALITE CUP was specially commissioned in green and is embossed with the ArmaLite Logo, is signed by Mark Westrom president of ArmaLite and will come with a certificate of originality. This rare, genuine ARMALITE CUP will make a fine accessory that Robert DeVito said he would cherish.

Bushmaster Acquires Cobb Manufacturing
Deal expands Bushmasters industry leading rifle offerings and adds additional R&D capability
Windham, Maine: Bushmaster Firearms International, LLC announced today that it has completed a transaction to acquire the assets of Cobb Manufacturing, Inc, a Georgia- based developer and producer of Tactical Rifles currently available in .308, 03.06, .338 Lapua Magnum and 50 BMG calibers. In addition, Cobb’s founder and President, Skip Patel, has been named Executive Vice President of Research & Development for BFI.
Cobb, a Dallas, Georgia-based company, has been recognized for it’s innovative, out of the box approach to tactical platforms. Cobb’s innovations include its acclaimed patent pending Multi-Caliber Rifle semi-auto system (MCR) and expertise in large bore bolt action rifles. Cobb’s products are currently fielded with a number of Law enforcement agencies and militaries worldwide.
According to Chad Brooks, CEO of Bushmaster, “Adding .308, .338 Lapua Magnum, 30-06 and .50BMG rifles to Bushmaster’s product offerings, further establishes our foothold in the tactical rifle market, and provides platforms for future growth both in the U.S. and Global Law Enforcement and Military markets.” Added Brooks, “Additionally, the opportunity to add Skip Patel to our management team and lead us in our R&D efforts, was critical as we begin to aggressively expand our products to further meet the demands of today’s various global customers .”
The current Cobb rifle lineup will be refined and re-branded with the Bushmaster snake, and will be produced out of Bushmaster’s Windham, Maine Facility. As part of the transaction, Bushmaster has also established a rapid prototype and R&D manufacturing facility in Georgia, where next generation products will be developed. The facility will maintain emphasis on Bushmasters new product pipeline for Commercial, Law Enforcement and Military tailored products.
Added Skip Patel, “The chance to join the Bushmaster family and see the Cobb products gain access to Bushmaster’s renowned attention to quality and volume production, gives me great confidence in our future. My new position will allow me to focus on outside of the box ideas and address the needs of today’s shooters across all market segments.
